Dr. Hui Xu is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Macau. His research broadly focuses on mental health, with particular emphasis on vocational psychology and career development—including career selection and adaptation in the face of uncertainty—psychotherapy science, psychological assessment, and cross-cultural issues. Driven by a strong belief in the reciprocal relationship between science and practice, Dr. Xu has published in leading journals such as the Journal of Counseling Psychology and the Journal of Vocational Behavior. His recent work advances the dual-process theory of career decision-making (DTC), the concept of career wisdom, and the interest formation and consequence (InFoCo) model.He has received the Bruce and Jane Walsh Grant in Memory of John Holland and the Division 17 Counseling Psychology Grant from the American Psychological Foundation. He is also a recipient of the Annual Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the Council of Counseling Psychology Training Programs and the Early Career Award from the Society of Vocational Psychology. Dr. Xu previously served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Vocational Behavior and currently serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Counseling Psychology and as Chair of the Society of Vocational Psychology.
